Within the scope of the works of the Dean’s Office of Research, Vice-Deans of Research Prof. Dr. Aytuğ Okumuş and Prof. Dr. Ebru Onbaşılar, and Research Projects Support Office Coordinator Lecturer Özge Nur Toprak, visited the Turkish Standards Institute. After the talks regarding cooperation opportunities with TSE Deputy General Secretary İlhami Aktürk, the Head of the Department of Education Feyzullah Erdoğan, and the Head of the Documentation Ömer Eyyüpoğlu, discussions were made regarding future agenda.

Functioning under the coordination of Harvard University Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health Founding President and Sabri Ülker Metabolic Research Center Director Faculty of Medicine graduate Prof. Dr. Gökhan Hotamışlıgil, the 2024 Science Awards Ceremony of Sabri Ülker Food, Genetics, and Metabolism Research Center took place in İstanbul Fişekhane. Preparatory studies were carried out with the Scientific Publication Coordinatorship regarding Publication in Scientific Journals and Indexing studies within the Office of the Dean of Research. Ankara University Scientific Publications Coordinatorship and the Editors of the Journal of the Faculty of Dentistry participated in the meeting also with the participation of the Vice Rector and Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Kaan ORHAN and the Vice-Deans of Research. At the meeting, a short- and medium-term action plan was prepared by determining the situation regarding the index processes of the journals published within Ankara University.

The Vice-Rector and Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Kaan, held a meeting with Vice-Coordinator of TÜBİTAK ARDEB Prof. Dr. Nurper GÜZ. The subject of the meeting was TÜBİTAK support programs and evaluation processes.  The meeting was concluded after reaching consensus on short and medium-term plans.  

The opening of the Graduate Orientation Program for the 2024-2025 Academic Year, organized by the Orientation Coordinatorship and the Office of the Dean of Students, was held on 20 September 2024. The Vice Rector and Dean of Research, Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan, academics, and graduate students attended the opening of the program. The 2023 list of scientists, compiled by Stanford University academic John P.A. Ioannidis and other researchers, which ranks scientists based on their greatest impact, was published by Elsevier. In the ranking that was published under two categories, “Career-long impact” and “yearly impact”, taking the indicators like the number of qualified publications, citations, h-index, c-score into consideration, in 2023 Career-Long Impact Category 16 Academics of 6 different Faculties of Ankara University were listed. We congratulate our Academics, wishing them ongoing success in the future.

“Research Focused Mission Differentiation and Specialization Program” Preliminary Meeting was Held. A preliminary meeting was held by the Office of the Dean of Research for “Research Universities, Research Focused Mission Differentiation, and Specialization Program”. According to scientific evaluations of 1001 project proposals made to Research Support Programs Directorate on the 1st term of 2024: Ankara University with 18 out of 355 total supported projects has the second most projects in Türkiye among 103 institutions. Ankara University with 13 out of total 269 projects which were supported directly has the second most among 891 institutions, and with 5 out of total 86 projects which were supported without waiting the next term Ankara University has the fifth most among 51 institutions.
