A ceremony was held at Ankara University to mark the opening of a new-generation technology laboratory, which will provide strong support for researchers’ academic output. The Ankara University Apple Technologies Laboratory, comprising 25 iMac computers and established within the Ankara University Research and Innovation Centre (ankaraim), was brought to the university through a collaboration with the firm Pozitif Teknoloji, whilst all necessary software was installed by the Directorate of Information Technology.
The laboratory’s opening took place as part of the ‘Article Camp’, organised between 12 and 16 October 2026 under the coordination of the Dean of Research to enhance the publication potential of Ankara University researchers and support academic production processes, and was aimed at researchers working in the fields of Science, Health and Social Sciences.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Rector of Ankara University, Prof. Dr Necdet Ünüvar, noted that Ankara University is a truly exciting and major institution, and stated that they are working hard to realise the potential of this great university. Highlighting that Ankara University, as a research university, has a great need for research laboratories, Ünüvar said, “Today we are opening the laboratory we have established with Pozitif Teknoloji. God willing, we will continue to build on this. Of course, the work does not end with simply setting up the hardware. We also need to install the software. In this context, we have secured important software for our university. God willing, we will take our university to even greater heights,” he said. Continuing his speech, Ünüvar thanked both Pozitif Teknoloji, for their support in setting up the laboratory, and Elsevier, for their support of the 6th Article Camp.
Vice-Rector Prof. Dr Kaan Orhan also stated that work in the next-generation technology laboratory would begin following the opening with an innovative training programme such as ‘Scopus AI’. Gazanfer Başel, Managing Director of Pozitif Teknoloji, emphasised the importance they attach to enhancing access to technology, noting that they expect the newly established next-generation laboratory to make significant contributions to the university’s education and research
processes. Dean of Research Prof. Dr Esin Ebru Onbaşılar, meanwhile, thanked everyone who had contributed to the establishment of the laboratory and invited all researchers to take advantage of these opportunities offered by our university.
