The third Workshop of the Offices of the Dean of Research was held on October 13, 2024, hosted by Düzce University. Vice Rector and Dean of Research, Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan, Vice Dean of Research, Prof. Dr. Aytuğ Okumuş, Vice Dean of Research, Prof.Dr. Ebru Onbaşılar, and Resarch Projects Coordinator, Lect. Özge Nur Toprak, participated in the workshop. Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan gave a presentation on the activities of the Office of the Dean of Research. The workshop concluded with an exchange of ideas and a reporting process following the presentation by the participants.

The results of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2024 Field-Based Rankings have been announced. While Ankara University was listed in 2023 in the 201-300 band for Dentistry and the 301-400 band for Physics, the university expanded its achievements in 2024 by ranking in two additional fields, increasing the total number of ranked fields to four. According to the results of the 2024 field-based rankings, Ankara University placed in the 201-300 band for Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, the 301-400 band for Agriculture, and the 401-500 band for Physics. Ankara University Vice Rector and Dean of Research, Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan, visited İzmir Institute of Technology on November 8, 2024. As part of the visit, in the meeting held with the İzmir Institute of Technology Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Baba, Chairman of the Integrated Research Centers (IRC) Prof. Dr. Mehmet Polat, and their team, an exchange of ideas was conducted on topics including the Integrated Research Center and research infrastructure collaborations. Vice-Rector and Dean of Research, Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan visiting the COHE Department of Project Improvement and Support with the Vice Deans and  Coordinator of the Research Projects Support Office on October 25, 2024, discussed regarding 2024 Research Universities ranking studies. The Ranking of Research Universities and analysis studies being shared mutually according to the common criterion that were designated, the fields open to cooperation on the route were designated. The 2024 Observation and Evaluation Meeting of the Office of the Dean of Research was held on October 31, 2024, with broad participation. The meeting, attended by deans and administrators from academic units, began with an opening speech by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar. Functioning under the coordination of Harvard University Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health Founding President and Sabri Ülker Metabolic Research Center Director Faculty of Medicine graduate Prof. Dr. Gökhan Hotamışlıgil, the 2024 Science Awards Ceremony of Sabri Ülker Food, Genetics, and Metabolism Research Center took place in İstanbul Fişekhane. Preparatory studies were carried out with the Scientific Publication Coordinatorship regarding Publication in Scientific Journals and Indexing studies within the Office of the Dean of Research. Ankara University Scientific Publications Coordinatorship and the Editors of the Journal of the Faculty of Dentistry participated in the meeting also with the participation of the Vice Rector and Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Kaan ORHAN and the Vice-Deans of Research. At the meeting, a short- and medium-term action plan was prepared by determining the situation regarding the index processes of the journals published within Ankara University.

The Vice-Rector and Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Kaan, held a meeting with Vice-Coordinator of TÜBİTAK ARDEB Prof. Dr. Nurper GÜZ. The subject of the meeting was TÜBİTAK support programs and evaluation processes.  The meeting was concluded after reaching consensus on short and medium-term plans.
