The “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Symposium,” jointly organised by the Ankara University Office of the Dean of Research, Faculty of Medicine, and TAKD, was held on 14 June 2025 at the Faculty of Medicine.
Focusing on the theme “First Steps for Young Researchers and Students,” the symposium addressed education, research, and applications in the field of artificial intelligence.
Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, Rector of Ankara University, emphasised the importance of artificial intelligence in his opening speech, stating that the university adopts a multidisciplinary approach in this field. Vice Rector and Dean of Research, Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan, highlighted the transformative impact of AI on healthcare and its contribution to efficient health systems.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Zehra Aycan, underlined the growing need for AI integration in medical education and patient care. Prof. Dr. Ayten Kayı Cangır, Chair of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and President of TAKD, who also chaired the symposium, discussed the proper approach to AI and the importance of its correct use.
